Domino's Announces the Domino, Its 'Next Generation' Pizza — Here Are First-Look Photos
65 years after Domino's was founded, it has finally launched a pizza called the Domino.
Described as “the next generation” in pizza, the Domino design is based on the Domino's logo. This new Detroit-style pizza made for one rolls out in stores nationwide on August 31.
Here’s the official blurb:
The Domino is shaped just like the brand's iconic logo and cut into two generous slices. It is handmade with premium, buttery-flavored pan dough encrusted with real Parmesan cheese and baked in a rectangular pan to create a crispy Parmesan Detroit-style crust. It is topped with two layers of cheese, customers' choice of sauce and up to three toppings, and finished with a drizzle of Domino's signature garlic seasoning.
"The Domino fills a gap in our portfolio," commented Joe Jordan, chief operating officer and president of Domino's U.S. "When everyone wants something different, traditional pizza falls short. The Domino lets every person build the exact pizza they want. It's fitting that the next generation in pizza is shaped like the logo of the No. 1 pizza company in the world. The Domino is so mouthwatering that we gave it our name!"
Domino’s said that in “independent testing,” consumers who tried the Domino rated it as “one of the most delicious products Domino's has ever introduced.” It called it “more customizable, portable and convenient,” and suggested it as a lunch on the go or late-night snack option. Or, Domino’s said, the Domino would be helpful on family pizza night “where everyone wants something different.”
The Domino is available through the Mix and Match Deal, where you choose any two or more menu items, including a two-topping Domino, for $6.99 each.
Domino’s is no stranger to the pages of IGN. Most recently, the pizza chain hit the headlines for wading into the God of War Laufey no Kratos discourse, which sparked some spicy responses.
