Project Hail Mary Is Coming to Prime Video This Friday

Amazon has confirmed that Project Hail Mary will be coming to Prime Video this Friday, July 3. The announcement comes just weeks after the sci-fi blockbuster became available on MGM+.

The release date was announced through a video clip published by Prime Video with the tagline "Having a Moment." The clip shows Ryan Gosling's Ryland Grace endearingly repeating Rocky’s excited exclamation that "It is time go!" in celebration of the film’s streaming release, which isn’t technically its streaming debut.

Project Hail Mary first landed on digital after more than 50 days in theaters. It became available to stream on MGM+ on June 18, which produced some confusion about why Amazon would restrict streaming access to its lesser-known service. It's possible that Amazon was hoping the film’s exclusivity on MGM+ would lead to a boost in subscribers.

While Project Hail Mary landing on Prime Video certainly widens the availability of the movie, it follows a pretty significant change to Prime Video’s streaming plans . The service recently rebranded its ad-free tier to Prime Video Ultra , introducing support for streaming in 4K Ultra HD while increasing the plan's price by $2/month. Subscribers who want to watch Project Hail Mary without ads will have to pay an additional $4.99/month on top of the standard $14.99 Prime membership cost.

The streaming announcement also follows confirmation of Project Hail Mary’s Blu-ray release date , and the reveal of a particularly beautiful limited edition steelbook.
